Georgia Steps Up Anti-Bird Flu Measures

Georgia is bringing in necessary equipment, disinfection materials and special garments from Germany to prevent the spread of bird flu in the country, as the neighboring Turkey has reported at least 15 confirmed human cases and two deaths, Agriculture Minister Mikhail Svimonishvili told reporters on Wednesday. Imports of poultry products from 23 countries, including Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, Turkey and Azerbaijan, are banned in the country since autumn.
